Project summary:

A steel manufacturing facility found several through-wall failures on a service water header. The holes were a sign of general corrosion in the area due to a failed internal coating sysetm. The plant decided to repair an entire T-section of pipe where the corrosion was located using an external carbon fiber reinforcement system. The system was designed to take the full hoop and axial load of the pipe so the plant didn’t have to repair the internal lining. The carbon fiber pipe was installed successfully and completely stopped all the leaks.
