Project summary:

Inspectors at an urban utility company discovered external corrosion on several hundred feet of high-pressure, fluid filled, pipe-type cables as they extended into a tunnel. The vertical runs of piping required extensive scaffolding for proper access and several pipes were located in close proximity. Advanced FRP provided a solution that would protect all the pipes in the area with a high-strength, carbon fiber based composite system. The repair system was designed to handle up to 1,000 psi of internal pressure and would provide a 50-year life extension for these critical assets.
